Biography
I was born in
Texas on December 3, 1932. I graduated High School in 1950 and spent 4
years in the U.S. Air Force in Europe. I graduated college in 1958. I had
a major in Business Administration and a minor in English. Following graduation,
I worked as an independent insurance agent from 1958 to 1966, then went
to work for Crum & Forster Insurance Group (1967-1990). I semi-retired
and worked for 2 other companies until 1994, when I fully retired. I have
worked in Senior Citizens programs with City of Abilene until 2000, now
again “retired”.
Spiritual
Background
I was raised
in the Baptist faith, and became a Christian on April 19, 1958 when I was
immersed into Christ.
Favorite Verses
There are many,
but one I particularly read over & over again is Romans 12: 3-8. It
says, "For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think
of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with
sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do
not all have the same fuction, so in Christ we who are many form one body,
and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according
to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in
proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching,
let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing
to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let
him govern diligintly; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully."
Why I Am a
WBS Teacher
I want to get
more involved in teaching, and I do not do well in large groups. I prefer
one on one, so teaching online is a wonderful opportunity.
Hobbies /
Interests
One hobby I have,
besides family and grandchildren, is motorcycling, mainly doing long distance
touring. I also enjoy reading and working with computers.
Favorite Study
Topics
I enjoy the study
of the New Testament.
