Biography
I was born on
May 18, 1922 in Lamesa, Texas and moved with my parents to New Mexico November
18, 1922. We moved near Portales, NM and I have spent 95% of my life
here. I retired as a City Clerk of Portales in 1987. I have two daughters,
four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. I also have two
step-grandchildren.
Spiritual
Background
I was baptized into
Christ on February 13, 1935 and have remained a faithful
Christian since that time.
I feel that I have especially grown spiritually since I
have retired -- I have spent
a great deal of study time on the Holy Spirit and how it has affected me.
I received the gift of the Holy Spirit when I was baptized but never fully
understood it until really studied it. I have taught different ages of
students during the
past years.
Favorite Bible Verse
"Gos is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though
the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the
sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with
its tumult." -Psalm 46:1-3
"Wait for the Lord; be strong,
and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!" -Psalm 27:14
(This was my help during
the year I waited for my daughter to have a much needed lung transplant
in 1995)
Why I am a WBS Teacher
I have always wanted to be
able to teach people about Christ. When I saw the ad in a church
bulletin my heart leaped with joy. I answered the ad and on 8/16/99
I received my first students. I am so excited to be able to do this.
I have to stay close to home because I care for a disabled husband.
I am sure that God has been with me during this time.
Hobbies
/ Interests
I
enjoy reading, crocheting, and making quilts.
