Biography
My husband, Hilbert,
and I will soon celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary. We have three
daughters, nine grandchildren, and our GREATgrands will number 13 soon.
My birthplace was Sandyville, WV, but we live in my husband's hometown of
Woodsfield, OH. He is fully retired. I do seasonal tax preparation work from
my home office. Secretarial training was learned at Parkersburg High School
and that vocation has continued. My educational background is totally of
Life Experience with some vocational and college-specific courses added.
Spiritual
Background
It is with gratitude
that I appreciate my parents were Christians. My baptism was at age 16 on
Dec. 21, 1952. My husband is a Christian. There have been many influential
Christians throughout my life.
My mother-in-law
was an encourager to me. I have taught children's Bible classes and help with
VBS. Now that semi-retirement has come, I have more time for study,
sharing, and encouraging. This verse sums up my resting place throughout life:
Philippians
4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Favorite
Verses
There are several:
Psalms 91:4
"He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust."
John 20:31
"..these are written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the
son of God, and that believing, ye might have life through His name."
His Word is our
roadmap, not man's ideas.
Why I
Am a WBS Teacher
I worked several
years sending paper WBS to students in Africa before I began full time employment.
Now that I am semi-retired and have a computer, I am so thankful for this
opportunity to share God's Word electronically with students who want to study;
it allows me to sow some seed for the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It is
a pleasure to meet people in this nation through this method. I look forward
to many years, teaching many students, from many nations.
Campaigns
Our local Woodsfield
congregation has conducted county-wide Reach Out for Christ campaigns in
which I participated by knocking doors to invite folks and set up studies.
Our Monroe County population of approximately 16,000 is scattered along 40
miles of the western side of the Ohio River and runs inland through rural
areas. Woodsfield itself is about 3,000 population. Christians came from various
states to assist us. These campaigns were great building blocks for our congregation.
Hobbies
/ Interests
I enjoy being
a servant of Christ, spending time with family, friends, reading, and working
on the computer.
Philippians is a wonderfully encouraging book. In particular, Philippians
4:8 tells us
what to devote our time to--honest, true, just, pure, things of good report!
Psalms 23 is also great. The Greatest One in my life is the Lord.
